Making a Difference in a Pandemic

The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has greatly disrupted our daily lives, and those already living in poverty are being pushed into even deeper vulnerability. Thanks to the support of individuals like you, World Vision’s COVID-19 relief efforts in China and Malaysia are making a big difference. Here are some highlights:

Our China Response

As of 8 April 2020, World Vision China's COVID-19 Response has reached 1.3 million people. So far, World Vision has distributed the following and more to the communities we serve in China:

30-Hour Famine 2018, the camping committee and campers all gather in a heart-shape to take a picture.

In collaboration with local partners, World Vision China is launching Mental Health & Psychosocial Support training for teachers and social workers, helping schools to safely reopen, as well as supporting child protection efforts.

“Due to COVID-19... I can’t go to school or play with my friends. I hope the outbreak ends soon. Please remember to wear masks when you go out. Wash your hands frequently. Let’s work hand-in-hand to overcome this crisis.”

Helping at home

Funds raised through our Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Appeal have gone towards providing:

30-Hour Famine 2018, the camping committee and campers all gather in a heart-shape to take a picture.

Staple Foods (rice, flour, cooking oil, etc) and personal hygiene items like soap and sanitary pads to over 1,000 children, women and families across Malaysia

25,000 masks & 100 litres of hand sanitizer to two rural clinics in Sook and Nabawan, Sabah, helping control the spread of COVID-19 in local communities

We also deliver food aid to 300 families of children from our ONE GOAL Eat Right to Play Right programme, which addresses malnutrition through grassroots football. In total, 1,407 people (including children and their family members) from 8 states have received rice, flour, oil and more.

“I just want to say God bless all of you who have supported us by donating food. Because of this, I do not need to worry about my family and others in need. I am very thankful for your support.”

- Farah, recipient of relief assistance

Once again, we’d like to thank all of our supporters for lending a helping hand to those most affected by COVID-19.
