WORLD VISION 2021 Virtual #RunForChildren

42 minutes to protect 42 child rights

Run, jog or walk to protect children and their rights!

Children are vulnerable to violence, exploitation and child labour. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented turmoil for children around the world, disrupting their access to basic necessities and putting millions of their lives at risk.

Children out of school

More than 1.5 billion children are out of school1

Children exposed to violence

Up to 85 million more boys and girls worldwide may be exposed to physical, sexual and/or emotional violence2

Child labour

8 million children have been pushed into child labour and begging3

It takes you and I to raise awareness and protect children!

#RunForChildren in 2021 is a 42 minutes virtual run to raise awareness and advocate for the 42 rights of children.

Under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), children have 42 rights. These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and develop their full potential. They apply equally to every child, regardless of ethnicity, gender or religion. Learn more here.

Proceeds from our annual #RunForChildren are channelled to child protection efforts in Malaysia and overseas to support children’s safety, to call out violence when it occurs, and to work with survivors to heal and recover. We want children to experience a safe and secure childhood that will advance their sense of well-being.

How It Works

Step 1

Register – RM60 per participant

You can participate no matter where you are! Sign up as an individual, register as a family or with a group of friends! Participants under 18 will need their parents’ permission.

Step 2

Get paired with a child

At #RunForChildren, you’ll be running for a child – the child on your runner’s bib. You’ll be paired with a child and their details will be printed on your bib!

Step 3

Collect your Runner’s Kit
(pictures shown are for illustration purposes)

Your Runner’s Kit can be mailed to you or collected at:
Date: 23 to 25 April (Friday to Sunday)
Time: 10am to 4pm
Venue: Kelana Centre Point
             Jalan SS7/19, Kelana Jaya
            47301 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

You’ll be able to indicate your preference on the registration form and more detailed information will be sent to you via email.

Step 4

You’re ready to run!

A virtual run is a run that you can complete at your own pace, time and place – both indoors and outdoors. Between 1 and 16 May 2021, put on your official Run t-shirt and gear, then run, jog or walk for a minimum of 42 minutes!

Step 5

Upload a photo of yourself with your runner’s bib with the hashtag #RunForChildren and tag us at @worldvisionmsia on Instagram or @World Vision Malaysia on Facebook.

Step 6

Take it a step further

• Sponsor a Child
Continue protecting children like the one on your runner’s bib through the World Vision Child Sponsorship Programme. You can sponsor a child here on our website or send us an email at [email protected]

• Limited Edition Mask
A mask can help protect us from COVID-19, but it will not stop us from speaking out so that children’s rights can be heard and protected. Add a special edition mask for the outdoors with a minimum contribution of RM18 per mask. Your contribution will be used to provide an opportunity and platform for boys and girls to stand up and speak up for their rights.
