Since 26 September 2026, heavy rain has triggered severe floods and landslides across Launglon, Dawei and Thayetchaung in Myanmar’s Tanintharyi Region. More than 90 communities have been hit. At least 30 lives have been lost, and thousands of people are in need.
Launglon is one of the communities where World Vision Malaysia has a long-term Area Programme. In Launglon alone, more than 8,400 people have taken shelter in a monastery.
Landslides have blocked roads. Communication lines are cut. Rescue and recovery efforts are harder. The number of people affected may still rise.
Children and families urgently need safe water, food and shelter. World Vision is appealing for USD 1 million (approximately RM4 million) to reach 20,000 people over the next three months.
100% of your donation will support the emergency response in the affected areas, helping provide:
- Emergency food assistance and shelter materials
- Safe drinking water, including water purification sachets and water filtration systems
- Household essentials, including blankets, kitchen sets, and basic emergency clothing
- Rehabilitation of wells and water sources
Your support can bring them help when they need it most. Stand with Myanmar today.
