Despite progress, the reality for many children in Malaysia remains urgent:
1. The national absolute poverty rate rose from 5.6% in 2019 to 6.2% in 2022.
2. In 2024, 8.1% of children aged 5-19 suffered from stunting while 28% were overweight or obese.
3. 9,624 children needed protection from abuse and neglect in 2024, a 12.7% increase over the previous year.
