Education is not only a fundamental human right; it is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Unfortunately, many children do not receive the quality education they deserve – and millions more are not even enrolled in school.
The lack of trained teachers, unconducive learning environments and inadequate learning resources are a challenge to learning for many children in rural areas. While school enrolment rates have increased significantly in the last 20 years, 64 million children of primary school age remain out of school, with the majority of them coming from marginalised groups.1
Globally, nearly 90% of children attend primary school, but in poor households, that drops to 74%.2
Many vulnerable children go to school hungry, sick or exhausted from work or household chores to learn effectively.
129 million girls around the world are out of school due to poverty, child marriage, and gender-based violence, among many other reasons.3
Education is the foundation upon which dreams are built. By investing in the education of children today, we are building a better tomorrow for generations to come.
Facilitate children in attaining the basic literacy and numeracy.
Ensure children have clean and bright classrooms with proper desks and chairs.
Provide libraries with age-appropriate books and learning materials.
Equip parents with knowledge to support their children’s learning.
When you sponsor a child, your contribution goes beyond educating them; it provides them with clean water, nutritious food, a safe environment to grow up in, and sustainable livelihood for their family – all of which form the building blocks of a brighter future.
