The world is hungrier than ever. As many as 828 million people were affected by hunger in 2021 – 46 million people more from a year earlier and 150 million more from 2019.1
This is causing children to not have enough nutritious food to eat. Malnourished children, particularly those suffering from severe acute malnutrition, are at a higher risk of death from common childhood illnesses including pneumonia, diarrhoea and malaria. In 2021 alone, roughly 13,800 under – five deaths occurred every day, an intolerably high number of largely preventable child deaths.2
50 million people across 45 countries are on the brink of famine because of rising prices and shortages of food, fuel and fertiliser.3
The sick walk long distances to access local health posts, which are often poorly maintained and lack proper medical equipment.
Parents and primary caregivers are unaware of the preventive measures, symptoms and cures for common childhood illnesses.
No child should go to bed hungry. Ensuring proper nutrition and healthcare for children play a pivotal role in their physical and cognitive development, setting the foundation for a prosperous and fulfilling life.
Ensure children grow up free from hunger and live healthily.
Prevent diseases caused by undernourishment.
Improve health services across the communities.
When you sponsor a child, your contribution goes beyond keeping them healthy; it provides them with education, clean water, a safe environment to grow up in, and sustainable livelihood for their family – all of which form the building blocks of a brighter future.
