PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Marketing Manager, Kuching leads the development of World Vision Malaysia's presence, partnerships, and fundraising opportunities in Kuching and the wider Sarawak market.
As part of a small and growing office, this is a hands on role that combines market development, marketing, fundraising, partnership building, and campaign execution. The role is expected to establish WVM's presence locally, build relationships with new audiences and partners, and progressively develop Kuching into a sustainable market for fundraising and supporter engagement.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Market Development & Growth
• Develop and execute a practical market development plan to grow WVM's presence, awareness, supporter base, and fundraising potential in Kuching and Sarawak.
• Build an understanding of the local market, including audience segments, giving behaviour, corporate landscape, church networks, community networks, and potential engagement opportunities.
• Identify priority audiences and opportunities where WVM can establish meaningful presence and sustainable growth.
• Develop local approaches that connect World Vision's mission and programmes with the interests and needs of Sarawak audiences.
• Test new approaches, learn from market response, and recommend where WVM should focus resources and investment.
• Provide market insights and recommendations to leadership to support longer term growth in Sarawak.
2. Fundraising & Supporter Acquisition
• Develop and execute local initiatives that generate Child Sponsorship, donations, leads, and other fundraising opportunities.
• Identify new channels, audiences, events, partnerships, and platforms for supporter acquisition.
• Build relationships with prospective donors and supporters and move opportunities towards meaningful engagement and giving.
• Work with relevant fundraising teams to adapt national campaigns and fundraising propositions for the local market.
• Track fundraising pipelines, conversion, results, and learning to continuously strengthen local acquisition efforts.
• Take accountability for agreed fundraising and market development targets.
3. Partnership & Network Development
• Identify, engage, and develop relationships with corporations, churches, Christian organizations, foundations, business leaders, community groups, and other strategic stakeholders.
• Build a strong local network that increases WVM's access, credibility, fundraising opportunities, and community presence.
• Develop partnership concepts and proposals that connect partner interests with World Vision's mission and programme opportunities.
• Personally lead key partnership conversations, presentations, pitches, and relationship development.
• Identify opportunities for partners to participate through Child Sponsorship, fundraising, campaigns, events, advocacy, volunteering, prayer, and other forms of engagement.
• Guide and support the Partnership Lead in developing and stewarding partnership pipelines where applicable.
4. Local Marketing, Brand Awareness & Engagement
• Develop and execute local marketing and awareness initiatives that strengthen recognition of World Vision Malaysia in Kuching and Sarawak.
• Identify opportunities to increase WVM's visibility through events, partnerships, churches, communities, local networks, media, and relevant platforms.
• Lead local campaigns, roadshows, fundraising activations, partner events, and community engagement initiatives.
• Work with Marketing and Communications colleagues in PJ to ensure local initiatives are aligned with WVM's overall brand, messaging, and campaign priorities.
• Adapt campaign approaches and engagement materials where appropriate to improve relevance for Sarawak audiences.
• Identify local stories and engagement opportunities that can strengthen WVM's visibility and connection with the community.
5. Office Development & Cross Functional Execution
• Take ownership of the effective functioning and development of WVM's Kuching presence within the scope of the role.
• Operate comfortably in a small team environment where the Manager is expected to both plan and execute.
• Coordinate with PJ based teams including Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, Faith Partnership, Programme, Finance, and other functions to deliver local initiatives.
• Manage local vendors, venues, events, logistics, budgets, and operational requirements related to marketing and fundraising activities.
• Maintain appropriate reporting, records, pipelines, and market information.
• Identify operational needs and recommend improvements as the Kuching office and market develop.
6. Leadership & Stewardship
• Provide direction, coaching, and support to team members assigned to the Kuching office.
• Set clear priorities and ensure accountability for fundraising, partnership, and market development outcomes.
• Manage local marketing and engagement resources responsibly and ensure appropriate return on investment.
• Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and mission focused culture within the Kuching office.
• Model Christian leadership through integrity, humility, stewardship, compassion, and service.
• Participate in and encourage WVM's spiritual rhythms and ministry activities.

This is not a role for someone who needs an established marketing team, mature market, or fully developed playbook. The person needs to be comfortable building relationships, testing ideas, opening doors, executing personally, and learning what works.
You should bring:
• Relevant experience in marketing, business development, fundraising, partnerships, sales, market development, or related areas.
• Strong understanding of the Kuching and Sarawak market, with established local networks being a significant advantage.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate market opportunities into practical growth plans.
• Commercial and fundraising mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and move them towards measurable outcomes.
• Strong relationship building, networking, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Ability to engage confidently with business leaders, corporations, churches, faith based organizations, donors, and community stakeholders.
• Strong hands on campaign, event, activation, or project execution capability.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and operate effectively with limited local resources.
• Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands on execution in a small and evolving office.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with teams based in PJ.
