Join us at the #RunForChildren as we take a stand to protect children and their rights! Every child and young person has the right to live a life free from any form of violence; they deserve to grow up in a safe, peaceful, nurturing and enabling environment where they can fully exercise their rights. But that is not always the case.
According to the World Health Organisation,
Children make up more than a quarter (28%) of all detected trafficking victims.
Nearly 50 million children across the globe have migrated across or within borders, or have been forcibly displaced.
One quarter of all adults report having been physically abused as children.
Suffering from an abuse leaves not just physical but deep emotional scars. While bruises, cuts, and broken limbs will eventually heal, the emotional trauma takes a lifetime to overcome and sometimes it never goes away. At World Vision, we firmly believe that, together, we have the power to protect children from all forms of violence – just like we did for May.

Hailing from a small village in Myanmar, 17-year-old May is currently serving as a leader in the Children’s Club after attending child protection awareness workshops and training organised by World Vision.
Together with other leaders, she was involved in organising a community-level child-to-child awareness session for parents and children in her village during an End Violence Against Children campaign. She witnessed the tremendous impact this had in her family as well as in her community.
“Our relationship with our parents has improved. They encourage us to do what we enjoy and provide us with the opportunity to make our own decisions.”
"I have also noticed that the families in my community no longer discipline their children using intimidation and physical violence, but rather through good and compassionate behaviour. They have grown closer to their children due to positive discipline.”
Thanking World Vision for giving the children in her community a voice, May continues to march forward and raise awareness about child protection, child rights and ending physical violence against children in her village.
The #RunForChildren is World Vision Malaysia’s annual 42-minute run, where you can raise awareness and advocate for the 42 rights of children in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and develop their full potential. They apply equally to every child, regardless of ethnicity, gender or religion.
Each runner will be paired with a child from the communities World Vision is working in, and the child’s details will be printed on the runner’s bib! In this way, every step you take is for the child on your bib – ensuring that they are safe and protected from violence and harm. Go Make your Mark today!
