Education Fund

We bring lasting, quality education to children in need so that they can write their own futures. Help children to learn today!

“Without access to education, I am unable to gain knowledge on basic numeracy and literacy skills. I will most likely continue doing labour jobs like my parents and will not be able to come out of the poverty cycle.”

While school enrolment rates have increased significantly in the last 20 years, 64 million children of primary school age remain out of school, with the majority of them coming from marginalised groups.1 These children are at greater risk for exploitation, child marriage, and lower income-earning potential.

We address barriers to education and work with communities and local governments to improve the quality of education children receive.

Key Challenges

Inaccessibility of schools

In order to reach the nearest school, children in rural and remote areas must travel for hours across obstacles like mountainous terrain or dense forests. Often, this results in students not being able to go to school at all.

Poor infrastructure

Schools in rural and impoverished communities are usually poorly maintained, and lack basic equipment like sufficient tables and chairs. This results in a poor environment for children to learn in.

Poor quality of education

Traditional teaching methods like rote learning are ineffective in delivering learning objectives and student engagement is low. Teachers in rural areas often lack the training to teach students in creative and engaging ways.

How World Vision Helps

Improving education and literacy

We support children in learning reading, math and essential life skills. We use evidence-based approaches to improve education quality and outcomes, including training teachers, hosting community reading activities and providing age-appropriate materials.

Building a better school environment

We help in building and refurbishing schools to ensure that children have clean and bright classrooms, proper desks and chairs, as well as places where they can read, play and grow.

Supporting early child and youth development

We support Early Childhood Development for pre-primary children to ensure a strong foundation for early learning. For adolescents, we provide life skills training to set them up for a bright and sustainable future. We also equip parents to support their children’s learning.

At World Vision, we seek to ensure that all resources entrusted to us are used as efficiently and effectively as possible. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent programme implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to equally important programmes that help children and families in need.
